Elizabeth Mendes: A community champion.
Elizabeth Mendes is a community champion, working to improve her community for aging seniors, working parents, and young kids alike. Elizabeth grew up here, started a career here, and built a business here in Mississauga-Lakeshore. Her Parents immigrated to Mississauga from Portugal, looking to build a better life and provide greater opportunities for their kids
Elizabeth graduated from the University of Toronto before entering the Provincial government, where she worked in the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Citizenship & Immigration, and finally as Director of Policy and Budget at the Ministry of Finance. After leaving government, Elizabeth started her own small business and served on the board of a not-for-profit long-term care home, building affordable and culturally sensitive care for seniors in our community. Elizabeth currently lives in Mississauga-Lakeshore, raising her daughters Emma and Charlotte with her husband Jeremy.
Elizabeth sees first hand the challenges many families in Mississauga face. Her parents are aging and are being met with a care system in crisis. Her daughter Emma is being put in increasingly large classrooms with over burdened teachers, while struggling to find affordable daycare for Charlotte.
Mississauga-Lakeshore needs a local champion that is ready to provide more for healthcare, more for education, more for you.
